Phone provider supports refugees this winter

Phone recommendation platform, HandsetExpert is supporting charity Phone Credit for Refugees this January to help asylum seekers keep in contact with their loved ones.

Phone Credit for Refugees supports people separated from their families by war and conflict. They provide mobile phone top-ups so that asylum seekers and refugees can get in touch with their families, communicate with support agencies and stay safe.

In the past year, the charity has had requests from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Requesters come from a diverse range of ethnicities, nations, and religions, and range in ages from 7 to 90.  With limited resources, the focus is on helping those who are the most vulnerable – women, children, those sleeping rough or in dilapidated and overcrowded camps, and those who can’t receive financial support from local aid agencies or organisations.

For every Pay Monthly, SIM Only, or SIM Free purchase made before the end of January, HandsetExpert will donate 10% to the charity, providing a lifeline for someone in need.

Shahrum Gilani from HandsetExpert said:

Winter can feel bleak, long and lonely, but we can help change this by giving the gift of connection to a refugee or displaced person who may not have had contact with their family in months.
