The shortlist for the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland 2019 has been announced with a craft beer company and community food initiative among those up for the coveted title of Social Enterprise of the Year.
Brewgooder was launched in 2016 with a mission to provide clean water for 1,000,000 people through the power of craft beer by donating 100% of their profits to clean water charities. Projects to date include installing water tanks for a nursery school and primary school in Chiluzi village, Malawi and installing two boreholes for villagers in Pinani, Malawi.
Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) supports vulnerable and low income families across the North East of Scotland, including providing food banks, food parcels and Community Food Outlets. The organisation credits its army of 350 volunteers, who range in age from teens to 70s, with helping to alleviate poverty in the North East.
Hey Girls CIC, which is tackling period poverty by giving away one pack of products to a girl in need for every one bought, has been shortlised as One to Watch, alongside Move on Wood Recycling, Passion4Social, Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company and The Mindful Enterprise.
The full list of shortlisted organisations is available from the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland website. Winners will be announced at The Scottish Parliament awards ceremony on Tuesday 12 November 2019.
