Sports Connection Foundation (SCF), the Peterborough-based children’s charity that
uses sport to inspire young people, has launched a new fundraising challenge.
In conjunction with local schools and calling on support from the wider community, the
Christmas Snow Globe Challenge aims to provide a much-needed funding boost for its vital
Sporting Wishes programme.
Local schools and families are being asked to decorate a window with a snow globe and then share pictures with the charity via social media. The charity is asking for a small donation of £5 to enter. All money raised will go towards funding the charity’s Sporting Wishes programme in 2021, which makes the sporting dreams of children with life-limiting illnesses, come true.
Karen Olden, Income & Engagement Manager of The Sports Connection Foundation, commented:
Like all charities, this year has been tough, but we are determined that our vital work will continue in 2021. We are very lucky to have amazing sporting ambassadors supporting our work and many of them are keen to
help us make more sporting wishes come true next year for those children and their families
who deserve it the most. Our new campaign aims to not only raise important funds, but the
nature of the challenge means that it will hopefully bring a festive smile to children and
families across the UK who will enjoy seeing the snow globe windows in their schools and
across their communities.
Previous wishes granted by SCF have included; giving children the opportunity to have a break from gruelling treatment to be a flag bearer at an England international football match at Wembley Stadium, giving families tours
around the training grounds of major sports teams, visiting a Red Bull Racing event and
even arranging a trip to the US to meet with the LA Clippers
