Art exhibition fundraiser for Brighton homeless charity

A pop-up art exhibition and sale, featuring the work of many well-known Brighton artists, will take place on Saturday 1 October 2022, raising essential funds to help people who are rough sleeping or insecurely housed in Brighton and Hove.

This exhibition of work donated by over 20 artists from across the city and beyond will be held at 35 North Gallery, North Road in Brighton.  It will be open from 10am to 5.30pm.

Prices range from £35 to £800 and all proceeds will go to First Base Day Centre

The Centre is run by local charity BHT Sussex and provides vital support and advice to people who are rough sleeping or vulnerably housed.

There are also four items by Fiona Watson, the highest-selling print artist in Scotland who has a family link to BHT Sussex.

Speaking about the exhibition, organiser Alison Boyce said: “I have been touched by the generosity of the artist community in Brighton & Hove and humbled by the personal stories about homelessness that have come out in the process. All who have donated work want to raise money and raise awareness about an issue that can affect anybody at any stage of their life. I am also very grateful to Clive Emson Auctioneers for supporting this event and 35 North Gallery for donating the gallery space”.

Jo Berry, Head of Business Development at BHT Sussex said: “We are very grateful that so many artists have shown their support for our work.  Money raised from the event will enable us to provide food, hot showers, and clean clothes along with essential advice and support for rough sleepers in our city.”

The online catalogue is available to view on the gallery’s website.
