Construction charity teaches difference between banter and bullying

Young people are being offered wellbeing training in an effort to encourage them to choose construction as a career. The training covers how to spot the difference between banter and bullying and dealing with stress and anxiety,

The free soft skills training is targeted at young NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) people by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity in conjunction with the Lofty Heights Skills Academy.

Sarah Bolton, Chief Operating Officer at Lighthouse said,

‘This collaboration will ensure that the next generation are well equipped to navigate the daily challenges of life and in turn, they too can help drive change to support a positive wellbeing culture in the industry.’

Each of the e-learning modules are delivered at two levels with a foundation level providing learners with an introduction to each subject, the key topic areas and an understanding of the language used. The next level presents scenarios where learners then need to demonstrate their understanding of the subject by applying their new skills and using logical reasoning to engage and master a variety of problems much like in real life. The e-learning modules offer complete flexibility, with on demand training at a pace that suits individual needs.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity offers a free and confidential 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline and text HARDHAT service which provides a range of information, guidance and support on a variety of wellbeing issues. These services are complemented by their free Self Support App along with their Lighthouse Beacons who provide a safe space for people to share concerns.

Their Wellbeing Academy offers a variety of free soft skills and leadership training delivered across a variety of platforms to suit every learning style from self paced e-learning, tutor led online masterclasses and seminars, through to bespoke onsite training.
