West Midlands chefs create Great Brummie Menu

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is teaming up with local Michelin Star chefs and stars of The Great British Menu and BBC MasterChef Professionals for a charity fine dining experience at University College Birmingham on Tuesday 21st May.

The Great Brummie Menu will include a sparkling drinks reception followed by a six-course tasting menu, with each course prepared by a different chef.

The event is supported by former chef, Matt Davies. Six years ago, Matt suffered severe burns after a traumatic accident at work and lost the use of his arm. He was treated by burns and plastics surgeon, Colonel Mark Foster at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.  Matt has decided to fundraise for the hospital charity to say thank you for the incredible care he has received and to give something back.

Michelin Star chef, Luke Tipping, said,

“What has happened to Matt and how he has coped with his injuries really resonates with me. It’s terrible that someone with such skill can no longer do the job they love. By taking part in this event, I am able to help the charities Matt is passionate about and I am so honoured to be able to give something back and support such a fantastic man.”

Michelin Star chefs cooking on the night include Luke Tipping from Simpsons, Adam Bennett from The Cross in Warwickshire and Jonathan Howe from Lumiere in Gloucestershire. They will be joined by The Great British Menu star, Thom Bateman from The Flintock in North Staffordshire and BBC MasterChef Professionals Champion, Louisa Ellis.

There will also be a charity auction and wine flight with each course generously provided by Arch 13 at Connolly’s.

Charlotte Schofield, Director of Fundraising at the hospital Charity, said,

‘We are looking forward to this fabulous event and really appreciate the support of all the chefs. It is set to be a very special evening and will help us to continue raising awareness for the hospital Charity.’
