More than £20,000 has been raised for cancer charity Get A-Head Charitable Trust, following a successful clay shooting event.

Get A-Head helps support people across England and Wales suffering from head and neck diseases, including cancer, and has raised more than £10million since it was formed in 1994. According to the charity, these latest funds will go towards supporting research projects, buying specialised equipment and providing grants to groups and patient organisations.

Teams from across the country attended the event held at the prestigious Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds in Northwood, near London, to help raise funds for the charity The event, organised by Wilde & Glorious, saw teams compete in various shooting challenges across the day and it was hailed a resounding success.

Tom Bromwich, Chair of Get A-Head, said:

We couldn’t be more delighted with the success of the day. The event has raised significant funds for the charity and we are very thankful for all those who took part as well as the contributions made by the sponsors.

We exist to improve the quality of life for patients suffering from head and neck diseases, particularly cancer, and events such as this are a vital way of raising the profile of the charity whilst also boosting its funds. The fact that we were able to have so much fun while we were doing it made it all the better.

Those attending were treated to a champagne reception and enjoyed a charity auction. Get A-Head founder John Watkinson was also on hand to tell guests about the work Get A-Head has done since he helped set it up 30 years ago and its plans for the future.

I cannot thank enough all those who came along, took part and helped raise this tremendous amount. Every penny will go towards our work to help treat head and neck disease and cancer and make a huge difference to the lives of those affected.
