The Rooftop: nine months on

It’s been over nine months since we launched The Rooftop to provide a daily dose of good news.

We’ve covered the positive impact of social enterprises, great charity campaigns, exciting developments from the public sector, trade union victories in the workplace and ground-breaking research by universities.

In total, our stories have generated more than 4.6m content views, that’s an average of 110,000 content views a week.

Our Facebook community is now more than 13,000 strong.

And independent tracking research by Sapio has shown almost 4m UK citizens hear about The Rooftop every three months.

We’d like to thank you for being part of the journey so far.

Last week we announced an exciting new partnership with the British Council in Ethiopia and Social Enterprise World Forum 2019 to feature inspiring stories from the event this October.

Today we launch a new fortnightly expert opinion slot, building on recent trial we ran on good news in the fight against ocean plastics.

We’ve partnered with Project Syndicate, the world’s opinion page.

Every two weeks we’ll bring you expert, evidence based, opinion offering solutions to some of the world’s biggest issues.

Today we will focus on the gig economy in Africa and in two weeks we will examine the potential of digital data to improve health around the globe.

Despite all the progress we’ve made, there is still more to do.

Our Sapio research shows that almost half (48%) of the public are still not getting any good news. While this is down from 56% at its peak before The Rooftop was launched, there is still work to do.
