Following the success of last year’s event, Cotswold Outdoor’s partner, YHA, has launched the second Festival of Walking, taking place until the 19th October.
Bringing walkers of all ages and abilities together at YHA hostels across the country, the Festival of Walking aims to introduce new people to the beautiful landscapes of the UK.
As part of this year’s Festival of Walking, Cotswold Outdoor is funding women’s groups, including Grassroots Batley, Love Her Wild and Women Outdoors. The donations will help provide everything from transport costs to enabling the organisations to put the walking events together.
Anna Jones, Partnership Account Manager at Cotswold Outdoor, said:
“We believe everyone’s happier outside, which is why free events like the Festival of Walking are so important. It’s a chance to bring walkers from all backgrounds, cultures, genders and locations across the UK together to celebrate our great outdoors.
“A core belief of ours is helping to reduce the barriers that stop women from enjoying the outdoors, something all of these charities are helping achieve. They have a special place in our hearts and we’re so proud to be supporting them.”
The founder of Love Her Wild, Bex Band, explained what that means for the non-profit community. She said:
“The funds from Cotswold Outdoor have enabled Love Her Wild to put on two exciting walking weekends for women this September. Love Her Wild is a non-profit community, providing opportunities for women to get outdoors for improved health and well-being. We know from experience that adventures like this walking weekend can be life-changing. For the women who are lucky to get a space, they have an opportunity to boost their confidence, improve their outdoor skills, and to connect with others locally. Thanks to Cotswold Outdoor’s support, we’ve been able to remove financial barriers for the women joining the event.”
